My view on megapixels has changed

I recently asked 'How many pixels are enough', that was about camera specifications and the requirements to make effective use of the resulting image files. I concluded that quite a modest specification by current standards, 16Mpixel, was more than enough for most professional purposes.

Trust your own judgement, not the equipment fundamentalists.

Writing for this site means I read a lot of other articles, and associated comments, on blogs and other sites. I have been struck by the fervent brand loyalty I often see. It seems that for many photographers their choice of camera is an act of faith, bordering on the fundamentally religious in its intensity.

Business start-up. Photography and writing

Time to get started. With the new year has come some decisions. I now have a strategy for my relaunched photographic business. It is definitely a case of out with the old (approach) and in with the new.

No going back. Switching to Fuji X.

I have taken the decision; I am about to commit to the Fuji X system. I am going to sell my comprehensive Canon kit and use the proceeds to complete my Fuji outfit. As regular readers will know I have been grappling with this decision for more than a year.

Work at photography everyday

After writing 'In the Zone' I thought further about the similarity between photographers, sportsmen, musicians, performers or others and how it relates to being a photographer. To ensure peak performance they work at their craft, their art every day.

In the zone, or not. Train the mind.

Sportsmen and women aim to get "in the zone". It is not just athletes that benefit from "the zone" but also all kinds of other performers such as musicians and I suggest it also applies to photographers.

New Year and a new start

Happy New Year to all our readers; you both know who you are! After taking a sabbatical during 2015 it is time for me to ramp up the effort on my photography and writing. It is time to get all those new projects and ideas moving.

For and against Canon EOS for my photography

I worked my way through the Pros and cons of the Fuji X system for my photography. I now need to do similar for my long standing Canon system to determine whether I can make a complete switch to Fuji.

Experimenting with Fuji X autofocus

I finally got the chance to try out the X-T1 autofocus with the new capabilities provided by firmware v4.0. I took the opportunity to try it out with my new 50-140mm f2.8 zoom lens. After all this is the lens I would most often use for sport and action subjects.

Pros and cons of the Fuji X system

Or why do I still keep my Canon equipment? I have been using the Fuji X system for over two years now and have hardly used my Canon system in that time. So why am I still hanging on to it?
