New firmware 4.2 for Fuji X-T1 released

Fuji X-T1 with 18-55mm zoom lens

New formware for the Fuji X-T1 has been released today, 17 December 2015. This was promised, then the notice was withdrawn almost immediately. It became a possibility again earlier in the week.

The new functionality includes:

  • Usding a flashgun in Bracketing and continuous shooting. The bundled XF-E8 fires in ISO, Film simulation and white balance bracket modes.
  • Instant AF setting in manual focus. Now possible to lock AE and AF using the thumb buttons and then shoot while in MF.
  • AF+MF operation with AF-L button. The AF-L button can be used to lock focus and allow subsequent manual adjustment on the lens.
  • Focus zoom in AF & MF. The Focus Assist can be used while focussing with the lens focus ring.
  • Additional Custom Display options. Options include:
    • Focus frame
    • Continuous mode
    • Shooting mode
    • Dual IS mode
    • Information back ground
    • Movie mode
    • Focus mode
    • Blur warning
    • Shutter type

The information, download and instructions is on the Fujifilm support page.

  • The video start button becomes a programmable function button (Fn7)
